Cat Cowl - two sessions

Cat Cowl - two sessions

The Cat Cowl is a Möbius-style cowl featuring a whimsical cat-themed colorwork motif. It begins with a provisional cast-on, and the body is worked in the round using stranded colorwork. Briana Arlene's design celebrates our absolute favorite mammal with a bold Gesalt-style cat motif. Not only will this pattern challenge your chart reading skills you will also learn ladderback jacquard, a great technique when you have multiple, sequential rows or rounds with large floats.

Unrelated to this actual workshop but if you've ever wondered how we pick projects: We are obsessed with designer, Briana Arlene. This pattern was one of many we looked at when thinking about a ladderback jacquard project. But from her website we found kinship, "I believe slow crafts matter more than ever in a world that often feels chaotic and unjust." We think this will be one of many patterns we cast on this year.

Limited to 5 students (16 yrs of age or older); 2 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

  • Level: CONFIDENT beginner/intermediate - you've knit a hat in the round. You know your knits from your purls and can knit in the round. Perhaps you've taken a colorwork class before...
  • We provide: the expertise, great company, and we want to talk to you about your cat.
  • You bring: yourself, a copy of the pattern (available as an in-store purchase), two colors of sport weight yarn and needles appropriate for the pattern. We highly recommend using two contrasting colors for maximum "pop"!
    • Don't forget that we offer 15% off supplies purchased for class.
  • Class length: 2-1/2 hours each session for 5 hours total.

Sessions run on Tuesday, March 17 and 31 at 6:30PM
